I stopped by on a weekday afternoon for their 1/4 pound chocolate chip cookie. - luckily they had batch ready 2 minutes after I stepped in, so I was able to get one straight out of the oven! The cookie was delicious - wide and flat, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I loved the sprinkle of flaky salt on top. I wanted to get the cinnamon roll as well but was told they only make those on Thursdays to Sundays, so I got the berry monkey bread instead (I was intrigued by the addition of berries to monkey bread). The monkey bread was just ok - the berry compote I thought was too sweet, so I'd skip this one in the future. I'd also note that prices relative to portions were pretty reasonable relative to other NYC bakeries (especially one in the East Village). Would definitely recommend stopping by for their cookie!!

Cute bakery with friendly staff. I do find the size of their regular cookies (not talking about their giant quarter pound cookies) to be a bit small; that being said, they had good flavor (my favorite was the brown butter and chocolate chip, followed by the cardamom snickerdoodle) and texture (if you like chewy in the middle, crispy on the outside, these are for you). I also tried the yuzu olive oil cake, which was incredibly moist but I do wish it had more yuzu flavor.

I just wanted to add that I've been back to The Pastry Box several times, and it never disappoints. The quality is always very high, everything is very fresh. Also, when I wrote my first review, I hadn't even discussed their best item yet: their sea salt chocolate chip cookies. Unreal. I really couldn't image a chocolate chip cookie rivaling a freshly baked Levain cookie, but this is on the same level. Just a totally different style of cookie.

The 1/4 pound chocolate chip cookie is amazing. The sea salt, the gooeyness, the chocolatey-ness! So good. After talking with the staff I was worried the cookie would be too thin and crispy but it was perfect. It wasn't thick like some other chocolate chip cookies but the texture was nice with a sink your teeth in feel even with the flatness. 10 out of 10. My friend got the smaller one and enjoyed it and also a ginger bread cookie that was the star of the show for her. The employee gave us lots of suggestions and talked to us about the different items. The place was small but cute and the smell as you walk in the door was delicious. If they could bottle that scent or make a candle, I'd buy them all. There were 4 small chairs and my friend and I sat at the window and ate our treats while chatting and looking out the window. It was cozy with some good tunes playing. We were comfortable even though the space doesn't seem like too many people should be hanging around for too long. They have cute little decor pieces and some board games that we thought about playing but we didn't want to mess up the book stacks. I'll be back for sure! I want a whole box of those quarter pound cookies. Also the prices were great! I expected the treats to cost more but everything was reasonably priced.

This is an overdue review-so IMO, this is probably one of the best bakeries I've been to here in the city. The menu usually consists of some core items and then some new rotating items. The chocolate chip cookie is pretty amazing with lots of excellent chocolate and topped with flaky salt. The black cocoa sandwich cookie (like an Oreo) is epic. I came in looking to try another cookie (the Campfire, which I'm still trying to get). They were out so I was told to try the black cocoa cookie and I got home that night and I was hooked. It was perfect, a nice crunch but not too crunchy and the filling was soooo good. If they were closer to where I work, it would probably be like my 2nd home lol. The staff is super friendly and the shop is so cute inside. Apparently everyone knows about this place, and I'm so happy they're getting the attention they deserve!

When I went, it was pouring rain, so I'd say I got somewhat lucky to have not waited in line. Despite the weather, they were sold out of the famous chocolate chip cookies, that's known to be the best in New York. To ease my disappointment, Tiara, the owner informed us that it'll be freshly baked in 5 minutes. We were the lucky ones that got these beauties fresh out of the oven. We waited and the first bite with the texture of the salt, in contrast to the sweet chocolate chips, really blew our minds. The ambiance also had a cute home-y vibe to it, which fits the personality of Tiara, the baker/owner. I bought four cookies, and saved the rest for later. I didn't wait too long to bite into another cookie. That night, I tried my second one, and I'm not gonna lie, I liked it even better because I like that crunchy texture after a cookie rests for a bit. can't wait to be back!

Overall rating: 4.7 I had this favorited after I saw a few influencers mentioning this as a really good chocolate chip cookie. I went like 20 minutes before closing so they were sold out of a lot. I was only able to get a double chocolate chip cookie ($5). But the owner was so nice and so sweet. I think this was pretty thin for me but I did like it! I don't live in the area so I can't say I'd seek it out. But I do like the feeling of supporting small businesses.

Came at 1:15 pm on a Sunday and there was no line. I grabbed two small cookies - the chocolate chip and brown butter - and both were excellent. Would try the olive oil cake next time!

One of my favorite choc chip cookie spots!! I prefer my cookies to be flatter, with a crispy edge and chewy center - and that's exactly what The Pastry Box delivers. It's not overly sweet, and they come with a generous sprinkle of flaky salt on top (which I personally don't like, so I just brush them off when I get one). So if you're looking for a dense, thick cookie like Levain's or Chip City, this isn't for you. But if you want an elevated version of the classic choc chip cookie, make sure you grab one from here. The owner of the shop is also super lovely and friendly! Highly recommend.

Post poetic open mic travels with a fellow spoken work performer we came to the nearest cafe for something simple and sweet. I have always been enamored for patronizing dessert or pastry bakery cafes with sufficient seating as I cannot wait after a one hour fifteen minute travel time to arrive home in Queens from Manhattan for consumption. My visit to the Pastry Box was to relax into the evening as the sun was rapidly descending for day's end. Surely, it was a sobriety visit. There is very limited seating for both indoor and outdoor. Customer service is welcomingly hospitable and accommodating as we were the last customers near closing time for the day. The female server produced a sales receipt upon request which I was grateful. Business cards are available for grabs. Chocolate chip cookies $2.00 The Pastry Box has their own 2.0 version from the classic traditional chocolate chip cookie to embedded sea salt and it is very flat and extremely thin. It is rather small which fits into one's petite hands (like mine). The sea salt is not my cup of tea because it made me very dehydrated and created unnecessary hunger pangs near bedtime. Thus, I would rate my review 4.5, but Yelp does not have half stars. I absolutely love the classic chocolate chip cookie and why taint it with sea salt entirely? I am Cookie Monster from Sesame Street with an addiction. I was hoping to attain some French macaroons, but none or perhaps it was near closing. Price is very reasonable to fit the budget especially in 2024 economic agflation era. How about blueberry center filling croissant? English Earl Gray hot tea $6.00 Served piping hot as it was the closet to Chamomile tea which was a good attempt for the server. I do hope with the passage of time there are more selection of hot teas especially when autumn and winter seasons will be full scale in effect. Saratoga sparkling water $3.00 Drink to be filled with carbon in sobriety.
